Only the other day I provided feedback on a document which reported on the number of people speaking 'Indian' in NZ. Yet in another section of the document it talked about how many people spoke 'a Chinese language'. A small point perhaps, but illustrative of the homogenised view that tends to dominate here in NZ - at least where India is concerned... Totally agree about the complexities of India seemingly being more ‘difficult’ to interact with for NZ.
